Learning about Dyslexia Technology

Today I learned how to use some computer-y things that will help me with word processing, reading, and my dyslexia. I tried out a couple of functions on Microsoft Word as well as a programme called Claro Read which help me read long texts. Finally, I tried out a reading pen that we only managed to get speaking English with a funny accent and very quietly. I did this with a learning coach called Sarah and it was in school, which I found a little bit nerve-wracking. We had a couple of technical issues, but once we got through those it was rather a good session, even though I was still anxious about being in a school environment. However, this was settled a little bit when I found out my year group was in another building for the day and that their weren’t many people in the building because the year 11s were on study leave.

We did this session today because we also got me a new laptop that will be able to support more of the programmes that we’ve been told will help me.

All this was very tiring so the best bit of the day was getting home and being able to lie down and just relax.
